- At age 40, I was diagnosed with complete organ failure. Before then, I had exercised several days a week and been physically in shape. I spent the next years trying to regain my health. When my health became partially stable, I looked to find a personal trainer who would understand the exercises that would be best beneficial to my physical body. Without interfering with my internal issues and medications. Because of my problems, the wrong exercises could be counter productive to my over all health. Pilar Cobb was the only person, in a sea of personal trainers in our community, who would take the time to learn about my medical background. She was the only personal trainer and nutritional specialist having knowledge of how the whole body works, not just muscles and bones. She planned an exercise program that fits my medical needs, and continues to partner with me to gain strength and fitness, for my all around better health. Her devotion to understanding each person’s body and the program that will best fit any medical limitations makes Pilar Cobb a treasure in our community. Corie Greenblatt
- When you receive the Big C diagnoses you can thank your lucky stars you've been working out under Pilar Cobbs steady hands. Even my cancer Dr. commented that because I was in such good shape, he felt good about my outcome. I've been in complete remission for 6 months. B-Fit studio is there for me. I'm a regular. - If you were to see me now, you might not think I am a huge weight loss success, but let me tell you where I came from. I am 5'4 and at my highest weight I was 301 pounds. I no longer recognized myself. Other people who know me did not recognize me. I stopped looking in the mirror and started buying bigger clothes, and bigger clothes yet. I gave up all hope of having a romantic relationship and all hope of ever being attractive again. Sometimes I would catch my figure in a restaurant bathroom mirror and I would feel horrified. Little did I know that these would be the least of my problems. The big problem was that last fall I came close to death because of my weight.
It started with three months in bed with such horrible 24/7 nausea and vomiting that I couldn't leave my house except to see the doctor. They thought it was this and they thought it was that, but what they missed was that my blood sugar was hovering around 400. I was a full blown type II diabetic because of my weight. I was so sick that I couldn't eat, and did lose some weight, but not in a way that I wold ever recommend, I was dehydrated, and horribly sick. I was dying. I made several trips to the emergency room and discovered that I was having kidney and liver problems that were quite dangerous.
After I finally started to get treatment for the diabetes, with insulin shots four times a day, I knew I had to get professional help with my weight. I never wanted to be that sick again.
I called Pilar Cobb. When I began to work with Pilar, a year ago, I was 260 pds and still battling diabetes. Pilar's vigilant support, both emotional and technical, was my key to opeing a door to a healthy life.
When the doctor told me I had to make major life changes, I listened. With Pilar's encourgement and vast knowledge of nutrition and healthy living, I was able to follow through. I started swimming, a little at first, but I worked my way up to an hour to two hours of laps on most days. I started eating heathy, real food.
Sometimes, I would text Pilar when I was about to make a bad food choice and she would give the courage to make the right decision.
A year later, I am no longer a diabetic and I am in good health. I lost a significant amount of weight with Pilar's help, I really could not have done this on my own, and I feel, and look,10 years younger than my age of 45.
I started to recapture what it feels like to be alive. All the things I worried about at 301 pounds have melted away. Now, instead of staring at me in horror, I get compliments on how nice I look. It is an exciting journey.
Most of all, if I continue this plan, I will not have diabetes and all of the attendant symptoms. I am insulin free! With Pilar, I have a second chance at life. Amy Porche
